Summer School 2018 August 15th
Today the older children had a lot of fun with rubber bands! We made letters, words, and even secret messages using peg boards and rubber bands. Then we made towers of paper cups and tried to see how many of the cups we could shoot off with a rubber band. The rubber band rockets were firm favourite, but we also focused on using them safely. Our younger classes added number stickers to their snakes and ladders board. Not everyone made it from 1 to 100, but we can continue with this tomorrow.
3日目の大きな子ども達は輪ゴムを使い、たくさんのことに挑戦しました。
まず、穴のたくさん開いたペグボードと輪ゴムで、文字、言葉、更には秘密のメッセージを作ったりしました。そして紙コップを積み上げ、輪ゴムを使い、幾つ打ち落とせるかを競いました。中でも輪ゴムを使ったロケットは皆のお気に入りとなりました。もちろん安全に遊べるよう、周りへの配慮を欠かしません！
小さな子ども達は「蛇と梯子ゲーム」に数字を加えていきます。1から100までの数字なので、明日も引き続き頑張ります！
We also put the finishing touches on our Battleships and began cutting the pieces for our labyrinth mazes as well.
The day became musical as we used more elastic bands to make kazoos.
「バトルシップゲーム」の制作はいよいよ大詰めを迎え、迷宮迷路のためのコマを切り出しています。更に今日は輪ゴムを使い、笛の一種「カズー」を制作したため、クラスはミュージカルのようになりました！
Our younger classes had a great time in the gym today working with a large parachute. We played some games where we had to toss a ball into the air and try to catch it again with the parachute, and we also practiced making different patterns using waving motions. We also enjoyed water and pool play. We played a wet version of the chasing game, Duck, Duck, Goose. A child would pour water over a someone, who would then chase them around the circle.
小さな子ども達はジムで大きなカラーバルーンを使い、とても楽しく身体を動かしました。皆で協力し、ボールを跳ねさせたりキャッチしたり、そしていろいろなウェーブをつくる練習をしました。また今日は待ちに待ったプール遊びの日です！ハンカチ落としの海外版、「Duck, Duck, Goose」を、水を使ったバージョンで行いました。頭から水を掛けられた子が、鬼を追いかけています！
The children also began working on our origami gardens, making their favourite fruits and vegetables to add to it. They also began constructing the garden their vegetables as well. Some of the younger children preferred to colour and cut out fruit instead of using origami. They had a lot of fun figuring out what pieces went where and then thinking of new items to add to the garden tomorrow!
折り紙で庭を作るプロジェクトも始まっています。小さな子ども達の中には折り紙よりも好きなフルーツや野菜に色を塗り、切り取る作業を好む子がいました。明日は何を加え、どのような庭をつくりだすのかを考えるとワクワクしますね！

Summer School 2018 August 14th
It was lovely to hear such positive feedback from parents and children already after the first day.
二日目にして早くも「サマースクールすごく楽しい！」「残って皆と楽しみたい！」といった声が聞こえ、スタッフ一同本当に嬉しく思っています！
Today, the younger classes continued to explore colours, numbers and letters in their activities. First, we used the boards we prepared yesterday, when we had made the letter at the start of our name using masking tape. Today, we got to make water pistol art, squirting paint all over the boards. Thankfully the children’s aim was good and mess was easy to clean up!
小さな子ども達は引き続き、色・数字・アルファベットに繋がるアクティビティーを行いました。昨日準備をしていた名前の頭文字をマスキングテープで記したボードに、今日はペイントの入った水鉄砲を使ってウォーターガンアートに挑戦しました。なかなかの腕前でしたね！
As a part of our ongoing project to make a snakes and ladders board, the children removed the tape to reveal colourful tiles. We then practiced our scissor skills to cut out and add snakes and ladders to our boards.
また、昨日に引き続き、「蛇と梯子」ゲーム作りでは、テープの部分を取り除き、カラフルなタイルが姿を現しました。そしてハサミで上手に蛇と梯子を切り抜きます。
Today’s older classes had lots of balloon related activities today, but many of the children were excited about their ongoing project to make a battleships game. We used what we had learnt about coordinates to make our boards. We also worked on designing and drawing out their plans for their labyrinth. We used spacers, rulers, and the marbles themselves to check our sizes.
大きなこども達はバルーンを用いたアクティビティーを行いましたが、なんといっても昨日からのプロジェクト、「バトルシップゲーム」の制作に夢中です。昨日学んだ座標のことを思い出しながらボードを作ります。また、迷路作りのためのデザインや構想を練り、スペーサーや定規、ビー玉を使いサイズを確認しました。
The younger children also had a chance to expand their knowledge of colors today with a fun game of color BINGO!
こちらは小さな子ども達が「カラービンゴ」を行っている様子です。楽しみながら色の知識を広げています！
Our balloon cars took a little more time to make, but sitting on balloons, wiggling around, and bursting them was a playful way to spend some time with our new friends. We also took a trip to the gym to work on a circuit course, and got to spend some time outside in the sun! It was another great day today!
“バルーンカー”を作るのは少し時間が掛かかりますが、風船に座ってゆらゆらしたり、破裂させたり、新しくできた友達と面白い時間を過ごせました。今日はその他にもジムのサーキットコースで身体を使ったり外遊びに繰り出したりと、大変充実した二日目を過ごしました！
