Friday Movers-Senri Yamada School-

Learning and Having Fun

We have been using the Kids Box 3 textbook. Everyone is really enjoying learning about the different characters. They remember all their names and love to hear about all the interesting things they do. They especially love the Lock and Key comics at the end of every unit.

During class we play a team competition. The class is divided into two teams, usually boys vs girls. They get points for answering questions and participating in class. They really enjoy the challenge and work very well together in their teams.

Sometimes we play games using cards or dice. Everyone really likes those. They use a lot of English while playing but they don't even notice because they're having so much fun.

Flyers-Senrioka School-

In this month's blog we would like talk about how using a finger helps the children with their reading and general bookwork.

The pointer finger which we use everyday when we are drawing attention to something is also helpful while reading.

We have the children use their pointers under the words that they are reading. This helps them to read every word on the page and not skip any words which can happen often with students who read faster with their eyes than their voices. It also helps their eyes to remain focused rather than getting lost on the page.

There are also different things on the page other than words like pictures and symbols. We often have to make reference to these things. To do this we get the students to point to things so we know that they understand what we are doing.
So if you see your children reading or looking at something in a book, you can ask them too, to use their pointers to help them with whatever they are doing in the book.

Kristian.

Monday Flyers Takatsuki

Monday Flyers Takatsuki

This month we have been studying about differences between "now & then". The students have been learning that the world has changed a lot in the last ten years and that it was very different over a hundred years ago.
During a recent lesson, I asked the students think of one thing they would take to people 150 years ago if they had a time machine.

They drew pictures to show their classmates.

Each student gave a presentation talking about what they wanted to give the people in 1866 and why they thought it would benefit society.

Movers-Yamada School-

This unit we're working with colors and in this section we're talking about colors we see in our clothing. To begin this section students made the vocabulary cards that we used for the lesson.

Students were given a random color and clothing card and needed to draw a picture of themselves at the ocean wearing that piece of clothing in the color of the card they recceived.

After they finished their drawing they needed to present it to the class and talk about the clothing that they drew.

Here we are learning about the planets. Everyone chose a favorite planet to paint for our Space display!
"I want to do Earth!"

宇宙にある惑星について学習している様子です。
自分の一番好きな惑星の絵を描いてみよう!子ども達からは「地球がいい!」など、積極的に声があがってきました。

We painted our planets with pretty colors. "Look at my planet!"
絵の具を使って自分たちの惑星を綺麗な色に仕上げます。「見て見て!綺麗でしょ!」

Do you see the rockets too? Our Space display looks great!
ロケットも見えるでしょ?宇宙の作品がこれで完成!
