Summer School Takatsuki-Ibaraki Blog (Day 1 - Polar)
Welcome to the first day of the Global Village Summer School!
This year, we are exploring different habitats around the world, polar, grasslands, wetlands, rainforests, deserts and marine.
待ちに待ったグローバルヴィレッジ サマースクール2017が賑やかに始まりました！
今年はこのサマースクールで、極地、草原、湿地、熱帯雨林、砂漠、海洋など、地球上に様々なかたちで存在する、生き物の生息環境を探検します。
Today, we explored the polar regions of the Arctic and Antarctic.
第一日目の探検は、北極と南極の極地です。
In our circle time, we introduced relevant vocabulary using 3-part cards. These are a little different from regular flashcards, allowing for more games and children’s independent learning.
サークルタイムでは、文字通り皆で輪になり、本日の活動に関連した言葉を3つに分かれたカードを用い、こども達に紹介しました。これらは通常のフラッシュカードとは少し異なり、ゲーム性があることから、こどもの学ぶ意欲を増進します。
To survive in the cold, we need to be able to make shelters. In our craft activity, the older children made igloos out of styrofoam and paper cups.
極寒の地で生き残るためには、身を守る避難所が必要です。年齢の高いクラスではクラフトとして発泡スチロールや紙コップからイグルーを作りました。
Our youngest explorers made polar bears using markers, craft paper, cardboard tubes and glue.
It was good to see them concentrating so hard.
最年少のこども達のクラス”explorers”は、マーカー、画用紙、厚紙の筒とノリでホッキョクグマを制作しました。ものすごく集中していますね！
Each day, the children will make a ‘habitat’ card to use as a background for their craft.
We want them to be free to express themselves creatively. Purple landscapes seem quite popular with our younger children.
こども達は毎日制作するクラフトの背景として、生息地のカードを作成します。それぞれの個性で作ってもらったところ、紫の画用紙を選ぶ子が多く、新しい発見でした！
We like to be active during the summer school. Whether it is splashing around in the pool, during the morning, or racing around the gym, we want to provide every child with fun activities and a chance to make new friends.
せっかくの夏ですので、こども達には活動的な時間を過ごして頂きたいと思います。
午前中のプール遊びや、ジムクラスでのサーキットなどを通し、こども達皆が特別な時間を過ごし、新しい友情が芽生えるチャンスとなることを願っています。
