Monkeys @

Monkey class Warabe songs and clapping play

We started teaching the children in the classroom about songs that involved clapping rhythms and singing with a partner. The songs are quite simple, especially the Japanese Warabe-uta that we translated to English. They are short, easy to sing and clap along with, and the children have a lot of fun trying to manage clapping and singing at the same time.

We with the old English songs like “Patty Cake Patty Cake” and “Down by the Bay” to encourage coordination and rhythm development, and also with the Japanese songs “One Bridge” and “Pumpkin Seeds.” “One Bridge” was very well received by the children for the tickling part, so they know that one very well now!

The coordination skills are extremely important to learn, as well as learning how hard you can slap your friends hand, and how to react to such a thing happening to you. By clapping hands together with our friends, we learn about our own strength, and what it means when someone hits our hands as part of a game. These are ways to improve emotional development through games!

These clapping games are so much fun, we hope to learn more and more songs throughout the year, and improve our coordination quickly, so we can sing and clap at high speeds!

So let’s practice at home!
One bridge, tickle tickle. Slap and hit and go upstairs and….
TICKLE TICKLE TICKLE TICKLE TICKLE TICKLE!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!

Turtles @

Turtles friends love to move our bodies, dance and exercise. This is why we enjoy Gym Time!

First, we sat in a nice line to put on our indoor shoes.

Everyone tried to put on their own shoes.

We started with 'Ring Around the Rosie'
We sang and walked in circles.
'Ring Around the Rosie'

Ashes, Ashes. we all fall down!

Next, we played 'Walk and Stop'.
We marched!

We stopped (Oops! Wibble~ Wobble~).

Then we ran to touch the wall!

Everyone was sweaty but had big smiles on their faces.
"That was fun!"
