A Taste of Autumn classroom activity.

秋の味を楽しもう！！



In this activity, Chiharu led the children in the fun and exciting activity of cutting pears! It’s Autumn now, and pears are ready to be picked and eaten right off of the trees! So, we got a couple of pears, and prepared the children to get involved in the food preparation process!

秋といえば梨！
梨の中はどうなっているのかな？梨を自分でカットして食べたことあるかな？
エプロンをつけてやってみよう！！



We passed a whole pear around the classroom, and everyone could feel the pears skin, and smell it too! Many children thought it felt a bit heavy. It was a pretty big pear!

梨の皮をむく前はどんなにおいかな？感触は？ちょっとザラザラして、においはあんまりないね！



Everyone sat nicely at two of the tables, and we listened very carefully as Chiharu explained how to safely use the plastic knives we would be using to cut the slices of pear!

さぁ！プラスティックナイフを使って切ってみよう！
ギザギザが付いてるほうを下に向けるんだよ！



Knives in hand, the children were very excited and ready to do their best! Some of the children held their knives backwards! Ooops! The teachers corrected the mistakes, and very soon everyone was cutting their pears into small pieces.

しっかり手で押さえてね！よく手元を見てね！
あ～なんていい匂い！早く食べたいね！



Some children made big pieces, some made small pieces, and some children kept cutting everything in half until their plate was full of tiny pieces of pear!

自分が食べやすい大きさに切ってね！大きいのがいいかな？小さいのがいいかな？



At last, everybody’s favorite part, eating pieces of pear! It was very good! Light, sweet, yummy! We kept the plastic knives, washed them off, and can now use them when we play with clay.

出来ました！いっただきまーす！自分で切った梨は美味しいね！今度はおうちの人に切ってあげてね！
