Movers-Senrioka School

Serena
In the Monday Movers class we have been using the course book as a base for exploring topics such as animals, from understanding and describing their looks to discussing where they live, how we care for them and how the differ to us as humans. We have covered a broad range of topics about family members and the students have all really enjoyed talking about their families and their homes. Our discussions have given us lots of opportunities to practice proper grammar usage such as proper tense, plural practice, the use of adjectives and understanding what nouns are. The students really enjoy their time in the computer lab as well where we practice their spelling, listening and reading comprehension skills via the Oxford Discoveries, Raz-Kids and Spelling City websites. The children each show their own individual strengths and have learned much in such a short time. I look forward to seeing how much more they will continue to grow throughout the year.

In the Thursday Movers class we have had a few busy months of practicing and improving upon the students English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The students have taken part in lots of pair and group work activities, which have helped them to become more confident with sharing their opinions and participating in the topics we have discussed such as their home, colors they see, and their friends. The students have also done small projects in class that have helped improve their English skills and critical thinking as well as encouraged their creativity in story making and in art when drawing pictures. For example, the students have recently created a picture of a day at the beach and drawn what the beach looked like, what they were wearing and what sea animals they came across in the water. The student’s drawings and explanations of their beach day lead to a lot of interesting questions and a great discussion. Thank you for your continued support and thank you for your hard work Movers!
