Summer School 2015 @Yamada

Today in Summer School we are off to Egypt! The children go into their circle time lessons and look at the globe to find their destination and then we have to stamp our passports to show that we have arrived.

In the gym we have to be careful of tomb raiders! The ancient Egyptians buried many treasures along with the old kings and they would often leave behind soldiers to guard them. The children had to guard their king’s treasure so that the raiders didn’t steal it.

In the classroom we also learned that the classic children’s game called “leap frog” came from ancient Egypt. The children made a line and then the leap frog had to jump over each of them and then run back to the end of the line so that the next frog could start jumping.

Then we were off to computers where we learned how the pyramids in Egypt were built. We also learned how kings were mummified and saw many famous things in Egypt.

During craft time the children made a pharaoh’s (Egyptian King) headdress.

Now when the children go home they will have to be worshiped like an Egyptian king or queen… let’s just hope they don’t turn into mummies!
