After School Movers

Hello everyone! Afterschool class has been great for the Movers on Mondays and Wednesdays. We've studied a variety of topics and all the students have really enjoyed participating and expressing themselves in English.

In our Monday Incredible English class, the students have been studying topics including Our Town, Sports, and Daily Schedules. Students were able to talk about where they live and what is around them, such as parks, libraries, shops, and schools. They also got to make maps of their neighborhood and write captions for their favorite places. They learned about map symbols and coordinates and practiced finding locations with a partner. They also had a chance to use our computer lab to look at real world maps and see famous locations and landmarks. They really enjoyed looking up famous places around the world and then describing these places to the rest of the class. Students also talked about sports and games they participate in or have watched. They were able to explain the rules of their favorite games to each other. They enjoyed sharing what they liked and what they would like to try in the future. They wrote about the sports and games they enjoy in their journals as well. The students also made checkerboards and after learning the rules of the game, they created their own checkers tournament. It was a lot of fun and the students were very competitive. The class created craft gold medals and awarded them to the top finishers. The class also learned about daily schedules and talked about what they do every day. They wrote their schedules down and enjoyed talking about what they liked and what they were looking forward to. They also practiced telling time with clocks and enjoyed playing games in teams. They also got to do role playing and pretend they were different members of their families. They enjoyed talking about responsibilities other than their own.

In our Wednesday Fun For Movers class, the topics have included similarities and differences, daily routines, skills and abilities, personalities, clothing, and food. The students enjoyed talking about the similarities and differences about their classmates. They especially enjoyed talking about their clothes. They also looked at sets of pictures and tried really hard to describe all the differences they could see. It was a good challenge for them to use their vocabulary to describe things accurately. They also talked about routines in their life and how they do them. They got to interview each other about when and where they do things. They also got to ask each other about their families, their schools, and the things they like. It was great to see them have fun asking questions and hear the answers. There were a lot of surprises and interesting things they shared. Students also got to talk and write about they can do and how well they can do it. They enjoyed describing the activities they like. They also got to do some creative roleplaying and imagined they were talking to an alien. They had fun making up creative answers and making an alien craft.

Both afterschool classes have been full of energy and the students have really enjoyed talking to each other. They have done well with their journal writing and their workbook exercises. Students have also done well with learning grammar points and new vocabulary. Some students also took the optional Cambridge English Exam in December, and so congratulations to them for their effort! The students have worked hard throughout the year and are looking forward to finishing the year strongly. Thank you to all parents for your support!
