This month we celebrate Father's Day. So, the week before Father's Day we asked if the children would like to do a craft to give to their daddies. The students were very excited about making something for their dads.
First, we asked them to write a short message to their dads and then add a decoration on a piece of plastic film.
もうすぐ父の日、 今日はみんなで父の日のプレセントをつくることになりました。
KAになり、レッスンでAlphabetの小文字を練習している子ども達は、メッセージを小文字で書きたいと意欲的です。
油性ペンを使用するため書き間違えると消せません。みんな書く前には、何度も指で文字の練習をしました。
でも・・・・張り切りすぎて間違えてしまってもご愛嬌、”I love Dad"の気持ちはたくさんこめられています。
Then, we asked the children to draw their dads on a little cutout of a man. They could use their imaginations to design how they think their dads would look and dress.
メッセージのあとは、”Daddy" 作りです。 笑っている顔、髪の毛がふさふさ、みんな思い思いに描いていきます。中でも黒い服を着た”Daddy"が何人かいました。 どうやら、仕事に行くスーツ姿のようです。みんなよく見ていますね。
The following day we took turns to cook our messages to our daddies. The students really loved seeing the film shrink.
さて、プラバンに書かれた熱いメッセージは、トースターの中で、大変身。
熱でどんどん小さくなっていくプラバンを見て、みんなびっくりです。”Ahhh！ magic", "so small!" 自分のメッセージがちゃんと残っているのを見て安心したのか、驚きの表情からニコニコとした笑顔に変っていきます。
It was great to see how much love the kids showed for their fathers by the effort they put into making these gifts and we truly hope that the daddies can enjoy these gifts that the children have prepared for them.
子ども達の気持ちが詰まったプレゼント（キーホルダー）大切にしてくださいね。

Fathers day is upon us. We are all excited to be making and giving something to our fathers' to thank them. We thought hard about what to make and decided on something that a father always uses – a wallet. Our materials were simple but it involved a lot of skills – tracing, cutting, decorating and pasting.
父の日がもうすぐ！「ありがとう」の気持ちを伝えたくて、大好きなお父さんにプレゼントを作ることにしました。「何をあげようかな？」こども達はワクワク。そして、お父さんがいつも使うもの…お財布をプレゼントすることにしました。材料はとってもシンプルだけど、なぞったり、切ったり、飾り付け、貼り付けたり、色んなスキルが試されます！
After tracing the outline of our wallet we cut along the line and then folded it in half.
財布の形をなぞったあと、はさみで切り取り、半分に折りました。
Before decorating the wallet we had to add some money into it. We could choose how much we wanted to give and it was good practice writing numbers as well.
お金も入れて渡すことにしました。「お父さんにいくらあげたい？」そんな話をしながら、数字を書く練習にもなりました。
Finally we got to the 'best' part, which was decorating the wallet. There were a lot of choices with many different shapes and colours. We all tried to get as much as we could onto the wallet and for our father.
いよいよお財布の飾り付けです！色々な形や色を選び、お父さんのために財布を完成させました。

Summer School 2014 ＠ 千里山田校
スタッフにとっても楽しくてあっという間だったサマースクール、とうとう最終日を迎えました。
最終日は南米のペルーです。日本から遠く離れた国の文化を覗いてみましょう。
土曜日ということもあり、保護者の方を招いてのスペシャルイベントも行いました。
クラフトは、レインメーカーや毛糸を装飾したヘビ等に挑戦しました。
一週間という短い間ですが、さすがは子ども達です。
すっかり気心も知れ、協力している姿が見られます。
ジムにてスペシャルイベントです。
まずはペルーでも有名なミイラに因んだ「ミイラ作りゲーム！」
始めはちょっと遠慮気味だった子ども達ですが・・・
だんだんとダイナミックになってきました！
ご協力いただいた保護者の皆様、ありがとうございました！
続いては、「ボルケーノとクレイターゲーム」です。
保護者の頑張る姿に声援が飛び交いました！
毎日笑顔で学んでくれたみんなに、サマースクールの修了証書の授与です。

Summer School 2014 @ 高槻茨木校
We have traveled from Australia to Indonesia today. This stamp is of a shadow puppet from Java.
8月15日、高槻茨木校サマースクールはオーストラリアの旅を終え、インドネシアに入国しました。
スタンプはジャワ島の伝統、影絵芝居にちなんだものです。
As the older children learnt compared English and Indonesian words for general vocabulary, the younger learners learnt about shapes. These helped us with our craft as we explored Balinese masks.
年上クラスは英語とインドネシア語の違いを学び、年の小さなクラスは物の形について学んでからインドネシアの仮面をクラフトのクラスで作製しました。
After experimenting with different designs on paper, we used our creativity to make our own masks. Some children added feathers; some added sequins…
様々なデザイン画を学んでから、生徒独自の想像力を活かしたマスクを作製しました。生徒達はクラフトの羽やグリッター、スパンコールなどで装飾しました。
Some decided that they would like to be the same as a friend.
中には同じマスクを作る生徒たちもいましたよ。
Did you know that Indonesia has around 150 active volcanos? We decided to make our own volcano using home ingredients.
First, we added baking soda to our volcano crater.
インドネシアには150の火山があるってみんな知っていましたか？そこで火山を身近な材料、ベイキングパウダーなどを使って実験してみました。
Then, we added washing up liquid to some vinegar. Food colouring gave us the lovely lava red.
さて、食器洗剤に酢、そして食紅を加えることによって、火山が赤く噴火し始めましたよ。
We then squirted it into the crater and watched what happened. Some of the children stood back in case the volcano erupted and spewed red lava on them.
まずは先生がお手本を見せ、火山が赤く噴火し始めたのを見た生徒たちは少しタジタジとステップバック。
After, the children got to recreate the experiment on a smaller scale. They remembered the ingredients and process to make a lovely mess.
少しずつ各自実験をしたせいか生徒たちもどうやればいいのかを理解できたようです。
Peru will be our last country to explore before returning to Japan. Summer School has been quite an adventure.
最終日はペルーを訪れ日本へ帰国予定です。サマースクールを通じ様々な冒険を体験した生徒たちでしたね。

Summer School 2014 @ 千里山田校
Today we visited the USA! We learned about cowboys, roping, and other fun American traditions.
サマースクール千里山田校、4日目の滞在先はアメリカ合衆国でした。カウボーイや投げ縄など、アメリカの伝統についてたくさんのことを学びました。
The children made a variety of crafts today. From a handprint cactus, to a cowboy hat and sheriff badge, to a broomstick horse – all of our crafts today were images from the American Wild West.
今日の工作はどれもアメリカ西部開拓時代を連想するものです。
手や指を使ってペイントしたサボテンの絵、カウボーイハットと保安官バッジ、そしてアメリカの子どもが箒の先につけて遊ぶ馬の頭をそれぞれのクラスで製作しました。
With the cowboy hats the children got to cut out the hats and decorate them, then they made a mustache and a badge so they could become the sheriff.
ストロベリー、オレンジ、ウォーターメロンのクラスでは、紙を切り抜いた帽子に装飾をし、口ひげとバッジの保安官セットが出来上がりました。
The kids had a great time wearing their hats around and it got them in the perfect mood to learn about the wild west of America.
出来上がった保安官セットを身に付け、気分も盛り上がったところで、アメリカ西部開拓時代について学びましょう！
We have also been playing in the pool every day this week. We tried to include water play games that went along with games played in the various countries we have visited.
水遊びの時間にも、毎日の国にちなんだゲームを取り入れています。
Even still, the pool is a great relaxing time for the kids to step away from the structure of the classroom for 45 minutes or so and just enjoy the water.
英語やサイエンスや工作クラスを45分ごとに回っている中で、水遊びは良い気分転換となっているようです。
