Kinder B @ 千里丘校
Over the last two weeks the senrioka kinder b students have been constructing paper air powered rockets. This was an exciting project for the children which went along with our theme for July "space". The project involved a number of steps I which the children had to make tail fins, a nose cone, and assemble the rockets. Of course the most exciting part was launching the rockets which the children did with lots of enthusiasm. The children enjoyed this hands-on way of learning about propulsion.
千里丘KBは、２週間以上かけ、エアーパワーロケットを完成させました。これは、７月のテーマ「Space（宇宙）」にぴったりなプロジェクトで、完成した自分のロケットが空高く打ち上げられたときには、大興奮でした。こども達は、ロケットの安定版、頭部分、一つ一つ自分の手で作りました。この作業を通して、物を飛ばす原理を、楽しみながら学べたようです。

将来のエンジニアかな？
The children had to jump and land as hard as they could on the empty PET bottle. They air push the rockets high into the sky.
こども達は助走をつけて、おもいっきりジャンプし、ペットボトルを踏みます。そうすると、ロケットは大空へ打ち上げられました。
Many children were surprised by how high the rockets went.
こどもたちは、屋根よりも遥かに高く飛び上がったロケットにびっくりしました！

Nursery @ 千里丘校
We had lots of fun today! We made "The Shiny Sun".
The materials that we used were same, but everyone's craft became different. Each Sun has unique facial expression. We're going to decorate them in our classroom. Our Sun are brighten up our room even it's raining outside. We love happy Sun!!
ナーサリーの子どもたちは、小さなお天気博士です。
クラスの窓から外を見て「It's sunny today!」「I don't see blue sky, it's cloudy!」「It was raining yesterday!」と毎日天気の様子を話してくれます。
さて、今日は子どもたちの大好きな"The Sun (太陽)"を作りました！

Tanabata @ 千里丘校
Today we celebrated Tanabata at Senrioka.
千里丘校では、七夕パーティーを行いました。
Our bamboo tree was tall and adorned with colourful Tanzaku wish cards. There were many different wishes but for the girls the wish to be a 'Princess' appeared a lot.
園の竹には、こども達が書いた色とりどりの短冊が飾り付けられ、たくさんの願い事がつまりました。中でも、女の子達の「お姫様になりたい」という願いごとが目立っていたように思います。
Once inside we all started the day in our classes decorating some 'Happi jackets'. It was a chance for us to show our artistic ability for a popular Japanese festival. Stars and other various shapes were either drawn on or attached to the jackets.
パーティー当日の朝、こども達は各クラスで自分たちオリジナルのハッピを作りました。ペンやスタンプを使って絵を書いたり、星のシールを貼り付けたりと、楽しく完成させました。
When all the classes came together we were treated to a performance from the KB music class. They performed some songs using their pianicas in accompaniment with Eri on the piano.
さて、パーティーの始まりです！KBクラスのピアニカ演奏で幕開けしました。次にEri先生のピアノの伴奏のもと、歌の披露がありました。KBクラスのこども達は、お父さんお母さんの前で、練習の成果をバッチリ発揮しました。
Following this came the rousing Tanabata puppet show. All the students were very engaged in the show and enjoyed the interaction with the characters and trying to guess who the puppeteers were and why there were pink underpants!
次に先生たちによる人形劇がありました。こども達は人形の声をやっている先生達が誰か分ったようで、クスクスと笑い声が溢れました。劇中のピンクのパンツの登場もおもしろかったようです。
That was not all. To close our Tanabata show all the classes joined together and sang and danced in a jovial spirit, which was appreciated by everyone. We all cannot wait to see the photos.
最後にこども達全員によるダンスの披露がありました。出来上がった写真をみるのが、楽しみです！

HAVING FUN OUTSIDE
The junior class love playing outside they are all very good at using their gross motor skills to climb.
みんな滑り台、ブランコ、平均台が大好き。上手に一人で登れるようになりました。
Wow, the slide is so fast. The children like to slide down the slide.
長い滑り台も一人で滑れるようになりました。
We are all so strong, we ca give our friends a ride on the bike
ともだちを後ろに乗せて運転もできるようになって、自信もつきました。
We're read to go in, look at our beautiful line we made. Outside was so much fun.
外遊びが終わると、一列にきれいに並んで教室に帰ります。
楽しかった！！

Kinder A デイケアセンター訪問
As part of our Helping Hands program Kinder A visited the elderly folk’s home in Senrioka. Earlier in the week we taught the children about “The Elderly” and how we can interact with them. The students were so enthusiastic about going to visit them that they were jumping out of their skins the morning we had to leave. However, it was necessary to calm them down because to get there we had to walk on the footpaths and cross roads at crossing and safety was very important.
Helping Hands の活動の一環として、近くにあるデイケアセンターを訪問し、七夕の飾り（輪）を一緒に作る活動をすることになりました。
初めての園外での活動、歩道の歩き方、信号の渡り方、そして恥ずかしがらずにきちんと挨拶すること等を毎日しっかりと勉強して出かけました。
歩道を歩きながら見える景色にみんな目を輝かせ、花の色や看板、色々なものに関心を示していました。
The students did very well and we didn’t have any accidents on the road.
友達との会話も弾み足取りも軽やかに、到着です。
Once we got there the students introduced themselves to everyone. Using smiles and bright eyes they went around and shook everyone’s hands. The elderly were pleased to see the children and they smiled back during the encounter.
ドアをくぐり、大きな声で挨拶！（Good Job!) 私達の訪問を楽しみに待っていてくださったセンターのみなさんを前に、あれ？なんだかモジモジ、急に恥ずかしくなったようです。
照れくさそうな顔で、センターに来られているお年寄りの方々と握手をかわし、きちんと挨拶、そして、皆さんの暖かい歓迎を受け子ども達も緊張もほぐれてきたようです。
The children with elderly then proceeded to make Tanabata Rings that would eventually become a chain that we would leave there as a present and something to remind them of our visit.
色とりどりの折り紙を丸め輪を作りひとつずつつなげていきます。各テーブルでは、子ども達と一緒に和気あいあいと輪を作る活動が行われています。
Both the children and the elderly folk enjoyed working together and sharing stories with each other.
ただ１つのテーブルをのぞいては・・・・私には、できないとあきらめ、ただ目を細めてみている方がおられました。すると1人の男の子が自分がつくった輪をうれしそうに手に持ち ”Look! I did it!"(見て、 出来たよ！）とその方に見せに行ったのです。
すると、震える指先で折り紙を持ち、男の子が差し出した輪に紙を通し新しい輪を作ったのです。その方も自分が出来たことに驚いた様子で、”できた！”とうれしそうな顔をされていました。その後他の子ども達も加わり、”Can we have more paper please?"と紙が足りないくらいどんどん輪を作り長くなっていました。
そこにはもう、”できない”という気持ちはありません、”できる”という強い気持ちがありました。子ども達が起こした小さな奇跡に涙がこぼれそうになりました。
To Finish KA performed a song and then a dance for the people there. KA performed very well and nobody got scared by doing the performance. Very impressive KA!
楽しい時間を一緒に過ごせたお礼に歌を披露しました。
たなばたさまの歌はがんばった自分達やセンターの皆さんに心地よく響いていましたね。
形も色もばらばらだけど、長く１つに繋がった輪、子ども達とセンターのみなさんをつなぐことが出来ました。
何度も手を振り見送ってくれたデイケアセンターのみなさん、ありがとうございました。
この活動に協力して下さった引率のclass helperさん、ご協力感謝します。
そして、なによりもこの活動を楽しみ、お手伝いすることを学んだKA の子ども達に大きな拍手を送ります。
