After School Flyers

June

We started the year fresh with new textbooks and the Monday Flyers have been learning with Incredible English 5! Come and see what we've been doing!

In our previous unit we learned English we use at the library. We even learned how to make a concept map to organize information! Many of the students made concept maps about themselves and the different things that they do.

For our second Unit, “At the Dig” we learned about dinosaurs and cave paintings! We decided to make our own posters to show what we learned. So first we went to the computer lab to find some dinosaur facts!

We wrote out our True and False facts about dinosaurs to put on our posters. After that we learned about cave paintings! What did they use to paint? How can we make our own cave paintings?

The Flyers crumpled some brown paper and used sticks, feathers and their fingers to make their very own cave painting art!

How did you make your cave painting? The students wrote out how they made their cave paintings on their posters.
One student wrote:
“First I crumpled the brown paper. Then I used paint and feathers to draw a handprint. I used yellow, blue, red, purple, and black paint. It was difficult because we didn't paint with any paintbrushes.”

We finished the posters! They all look great!
Here are some comments from the students:
Student S- “I liked working in the computer lab. I learned that we don’t use brushes for cave paintings”
Student M- “I painted each finger a different color.”
Student E- “I liked painting with my fingers. I learned about cave paintings.”
Great work Flyers, keep it up!

After School Movers

June
Biggest And Smallest

This month in class we’ve being having lots of fun learning
About comparatives and superlatives .
The children were given different tasks and they had to
Compare themselves in a fun way.

The children measured themselves then in order they
Lined up finding out who was the tallest and who was the shortest
In the class.

We then went on to find out who is the strongest by using the weighing
Scales the children pushed down with the hands seeing who could reach
The highest number on the scales.

We then all got to go to the computer room to practice our typing skills and
Found out some interesting facts about what is the tallest building in the world .etc

Lastly we wrote up about our findings in our journals ,Great job everyone.
