Tomato Planting ＠ 高槻茨木校
On a sunny day, the children got to be outside and work with nature.
With tomato planting, every child at Global Village gets to experience the joys of getting their hands on soil.
さわやかな初夏の日差しの中、今年もみんなが楽しみにしていたトマトの鉢植えを行いました！
First, we listened and learnt about handling the plants and how to make a nice bed for our tomatoes.
まず初めに上手な鉢植えのやり方についてしっかり説明を聞きました。
Then it was time to roll up our sleeves and get some dirt on our hands. Initially, some children are hesitant to get their hands dirty, but with a little encouragement they dig into it with both hands. The different kinds of soil have lovely textures to experience; soft or hard, damp or dry and light or heavy.
いよいよみんなでトマトの鉢植えにチャレンジ！初めは土や肥料を触るのも、おっかなびっくりの子どもたち。でも、すぐにそれにも慣れて、ふかふかした土を両手でいっぱいすくって、それぞれの植木鉢に入れていました。
We made a piles of soil for the children to work around. It was lovely to see the children making space for their friends, helping each other and waiting patiently.
お互いに助け合いながら、順番に鉢植え作業を行っていきます。
The children were very careful with their young plants and tenderly placed them in the soil. How many tomatoes will grow?
柔らかいトマトの苗を傷つけないように、そっと優しく植木鉢に植えていきます。元気に大きく育ちますように！
The sensory experience of working with soil and plants was great for all the children of every age. We will be watching and taking care of our plants over the coming weeks. Taking these early experiences with them as they grow, we hope to enhance the connection with the world around us.
さまざまな物に触れたり肌で感じることは、どれも子どもたちにとって大切な経験です。これから数ヶ月をかけてトマトの成長を見守りながら、子どもたちもたくさんのことを学んでいくでしょう！
Once the plants were safely in their soil we gave them lots of water to help them settle in. In Japan’s hot weather we will need to make sure that they and ourselves have enough water to keep on growing.
鉢植えが終わったら、じょうろでたっぷり水やり。これからどんどん気温も上がって暑くなっていくので、毎朝トマトにお水をあげるのをみんな忘れずにね！
With plant pots all in a row our outside area looks so green. It was lovely to see the children already taking time to water their plants. We really enjoyed the experience on a number of levels and we look forward to seeing the first tomatoes and then adding them to our lunch!
仲良く楽しく植えたトマトがずらりと園庭に大集合！これからどんな風にトマトが成長していくのか、今から収穫の日が楽しみですね！

Making Name plates
This is our very 1st craft in junior class
We all sat down very nicely and then
We started colouring our own names.
自分の名前を見つけて、色塗りをしました。
Wow, everyone great job. That’s it colour in the lines.
みんなキチンと座れていますね！集中して色塗りをしました。
Once we finished colouring ,we had even more fun
Pasting colourful spangles onto our names.
のりで、キラキラをつけて椅子の名札の出来上がり！自分の名前が書いてある椅子はすぐにわかるようになりました。

In craft lesson the children have been engaged in collaging. They made three columns and assigned a colour for each.
Then the children were given the task of searching for items of the chosen colours to cut from catalogues and paste into the correct column. The idea is for the children to fill the entirety of each column with items of the assigned colour. The children are practicing cutting irregular shapes and working on sorting skills.
クラフトレッスンでは、こども達は積極的にコラージュに、参加しました。まず３つの欄をつくり、それぞれに色を決めました。カタログからその３色の絵を切り取り、紙がいっぱいになるまで、色別に貼りつけました。こども達は、難しい形を切る練習や、種類ごとに分ける練習をしています。
Just beginning the cutting and organizing! What pictures will we find?!
スタート！色別に並べています。どんな絵がみつかるかな？
The children were fully engaged in the project!
こども達が、積極的に参加しています！
