Once or twice a month, the Caterpillar class replaces Circle Time with individual or small group learning stations.
キャタピラークラスでは月に何度か、サークルタイムの代わりに小さなグループに分けたラーニングステーションをしています。

What are learning stations?
Well, there are now 17 students in our class so the learning stations give the children time to work at their own pace rather than keeping up with the large group.
ラーニングステーションとは…？？
クラスのみんな一緒のペースで学ぶのではなく、17人それぞれ自分のペースで学ぶ事が出来ます。

It also gives the children a chance to choose what they want to work on, rather than being directed by a teacher.
また、指示されたことをするのではなく自分でアクティビティを選んで、自ら学びたいという気持ちを引き出します。

Writing is always the most popular, but we also do brain-building activities such as sorting toys or arranging shapes into designs.
ライティングのステーションが1番の人気ですが、おもちゃを形で分けたり色で分けたりする脳の体操のアクティビティもあります。

We also practice our number skills. Sometimes we have a book corner and we look at books that relate to the month's topic.
数字やその月のテーマにそった絵本を楽しむステーションもあります。











These are just a few of the many activities that make up our learning stations!

This month for show and tell the kids brought in bugs!
Some only had pictures of their favorite bugs, but many brought in real bugs to talk about!


今月は虫について発表しました！
こどもたちは自分の好きな虫の写真を持ち寄ったり、本物の虫をスクールに持ってきて話をしました。

The children were really curious about all the different bugs we talked about.
It was a great opportunity for them to ask new questions about things they did not understand.


お友だちの持ってきた虫に興味津々。
先生に教えてもらった新たな質問文を使って、自分の言葉で友だちに尋ねます。
自分の知らない事について学ぶ、良い機会になりました。

Our classroom was soon filled with all kinds of creepy crawly things!

「なんだろう？」一瞬にして、こどもたちに囲まれた、この虫の正体は…？

Last week for craft we made rice balls!
This month we will have a special picnic with our favorite stuffed animals, so we made rice balls for our friends to eat.

先週の工作の時間は、「おむすび」を作りました！
今月は、自分の好きなぬいぐるみと一緒に園内ピクニックをします。
そう、このおむすびは私たちの友だち（ぬいぐるみ）用。

The kids had to cut the rice ball our of white paper, then we added ‘seaweed’ with a black strip of paper.

ハサミを使い、白画用紙に描かれてある線に沿って上手に切り抜きます。
次に海苔に見立てた黒い長方形の色画用紙をのせて…

Then we let the children pick what they wanted inside their rice ball; either salmon, egg, or sour plums.

自分の好きなおむすびの具を選びました。
サーモンに、玉子に、梅干し。何にしようかな～。
The rice balls came our really well, and they look yummy… right!

上手にできたね！とっても美味しそうなおむすび、食べたくなったでしょ？

This week in gym we played a cool organizational team game.
The kids picked their favorite color (red, blue, green, or yellow) and stood at that cone with their friends.

体育の時間、赤、青、緑、黄色の4チームに分かれてゲームをしました。
自分の好きな色のコーンへ友だちと一緒に並びます。チーム対抗戦です！

Then we spread balls all over the gym and they had to collect the balls that matched the color of their cone and place them in their basket. It was a really fun team game!

ボールがたくさん！！
体育館いっぱいに散らばった4色のボールの中から、自分のチームの色のボールを探して、同じ色のバスケットへ。
楽しい時間はあっという間。

Afterwards we did some yoga together.
Bees class has become really interested in yoga and love their quiet time after running around in gym.

ゲームで身体を動かした後に、みんなでヨガをしました。
体育館で思いっきり走った後のヨガで身も心も癒されました。

Sleepoverで食べる最後の食事はカレーです！
午前中たくさん動いたのでみんなお腹ペコペコです。





  

とてもお天気がよく　みんな自然を満喫してます！





















  

爽やかな風が心地いい目覚めの朝になりました。ぐっすりと眠ったこどもたちは、朝から元気いっぱいです。このあとのハイキングに備えてまずは、朝食を頂きます。
みんなリラックスして、とてもいい笑顔です。
