In KB we have been experimenting with various manipulatives to support literacy while building vocabulary. In this experiment the children were given the task of using Lego to build words from the KB vocabulary list. The children enjoyed the challenge of using Lego in a different way. The children also enjoyed reading each others words and collaborating on forming challenging letters.
「ブロックでアルファベットを作るの！？」
いつもと違うブロックの使い方に初めはビックリ！
でも、自分の名前やＫＢで学ぶボキャブラリー作りに挑戦しました。





The children developed interesting ways of building letters.
おもしろく遊んでいるうちに自然といろんなつづりを学べました。

Growing a garden!

Junior class has been growing a garden. This helps the children to learn about how things grow and to take care of their own things.

First up we looked at the seeds and then got them ready to become sprouts.
ティッシュに水を含ませて、Beansの種を入れて・・・



毎日水をやっていると、３日後には芽が出てきて、こどもたちは大喜び。
目を丸くして、"Where is mine?" 自分の種が咲いているかを確認していました。
Everyone was really excited to see things coming out of the tissues.



Not only did we plant beans in tissues but we also planted some carrots and zinnias to see how they would grow.

次に、Beansの芽をペットボトルの容器に移し替えて・・・



にんじんの芽が出てきました



にんじんと百日草の芽を土に植えなおしました。
Little by little, we are watching them grow.
こどもたちは、植物に水をやり自ら育てることで、
好き嫌いなく、にんじんやトマトもたくさん食べれるようになりました。



We are going to take care of our own garden until we can eat these vegetables too.
