Monkeys @

Koinobori craft with paint, and shapes.

In the Monkey room, we have been practicing with all of the shapes, memorizing the words, and even how to describe them. We count the sides of a triangle, draw circles in the air, and play games searching for shapes around the classroom.

This was also going to be the first activity where the children were able to use paint brushes, so we demonstrated how to paint carefully and nicely within the lines. They were very excited to get involved!

Yellow, Blue, and Red were the available colors, and the children could choose any of the three colors they wanted to use. Some children used all three colors, some children just used their favorite color!

They were really good at using paintbrushes! So many of the shapes were nicely painted, and they didn’t use too much paint either! It was a very wonderful day of painting, and there was no mess either. The Monkeys were very careful painters.

After the paint dried, Eric and Chiharu cut out the shapes and prepared the giant Koinobori for the next step. Everybody picked a single shape, and glued it onto the Koinobori!

The circle Koinobori had a circle eye, triangle scale Koinobori had a triangle eye, and the square scale Koinobori had a square eye!

Now the Koinobori are flying high in the hallway outside of the Monkey room!

Monkeys

Tomato Planting @

What a great day we all had getting dirty, planting our tomato’s and it was all done with so many parents. To you we say a big thank you.

Time to play a game off! “Simon says” by putting your rocks into your tomato plant pot.

Pick them up, shovel them up. How many do we need to fill the bottom? 100 maybe.

Digging deep what can we find, soil, soil and even more soil, it’s such fun to get dirty.

With a little help from our friends, we can get ready to put into our yellow pots our own tomato plants.

Put it in, push it down, we will help our tomato plants grow big and strong.

1 tomato, 2 tomato plants sitting in a row, water them well and they will give us so many tomato’s to eat. “Yum, yum”

It was such a great day the parents made their own tomato plant for……see if you can guess who for?
